File photoSANGSAD BHABAN, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam today said that fare charts for air-conditioned (AC) buses and minibuses will be prepared soon and displayed on digital screens inside public transport vehicles. According to Rule 60 (Ka) of the Road Transport Rules, 2022, the respective passenger and goods transport committees determine the number of transport vehicles and approve route permits in their jurisdictions considering road capacity. He further said that under Section 34(2) of the Road Transport Act, 2018, the government, with prior approval and through a gazette notification, fixes or refixes fare rates and minimum fares for public transport. Following the refixed fares, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) publishes fare charts on its website (www.brta.gov.bd) and instructs transport owners and operators to display them in visible places inside vehicles. The minister added that fare charts for non-AC buses and minibuses are already in place.
