Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast it is vital Manchester United strengthen during the January transfer window:"I don't think the squad is strong enough. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and a lot of players around the world still think that. If you can put any sort of [run of] results together, three or four victories over the next six games, you're right in the mix for Champions League football again, and then you go and recruit again in the summer. "This season seems wide open for any team to finish in the Champions League [qualification spots]. "I think they need to strengthen again to give themselves the chance."
