A furious Jack Burnell accused the defending marathon swimming champion of pulling his leg in the last minute of the Olympic race and costing him a shot at 10km gold in Rio today. Angry that the judges had handed down yellow cards and a disqualification in the last few strokes of a two-hour battle, the 23-year-old Briton described the race as an “absolute outrage” that had ruined four years of preparation.
