Burlington man sentenced in drug trafficking case

A Burlington man was sentenced to 10 ½ years in prison for drug trafficking and weapons offences after he was duped by a member of a New York City crime family who turned police agent. The Bonanno crime family is considered the oldest of the New York City Mafia families, with roots in the 19th century. Several undercover police officers assisted the made member of the Bonanno crime family who agreed to co-operate with authorities. They sought to use the police agent from the Bonanno crime family and his connections to provide transportation for the cocaine. Giuseppe and Domenico Violi are sons of mob boss Paolo Violi, who was murdered by the Rizzuto crime family in Montreal in 1978.
