A gang of “utterly shameful” criminals who broke into the homes of the England footballer Raheem Sterling and the Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay have been jailed. Vincent Ball, 52, John Barlow, 58, and Thomas Mee, 42, targeted homes in affluent parts of Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire, stealing watches, jewellery and designer handbags worth a total of £600,000. Sterling’s home in Cheshire was targeted in November 2018, the same month as Kay’s home in Buckinghamshire. Chester crown court was told yesterday that the three men would have netted more than £1 million if they had not dropped a haul of watches worth £500,000 outside the home of Steve Dale, the owner of Bury FC.
