Three masked figures broke into the shop early Sunday morningA Christchurch dairy worker is relieved a ram-raid at the shop occurred outside of opening hours so staff and customers were not be harmed. Shortly after 4am on Sunday a car smashed through the automatic door entranceway to the Islington Superette on Waterloo Rd, near Hornby. Store assistant manager Sukhan Sidhu said the car was a blue Mazda and video footage showed three masked burglars entering the building. They also smashed an ice cream freezer and unsuccessfully tried to break into a small cabinet containing cigarettes. Nothing like that had happened in his more than three years working at the store, Sidhu said.
