The fashion label Burberry has said that it made an “excellent start” to the year as it reported a strong recovery in sales, which are now in line with pre-Covid-19 trading. Sales in the 13 weeks to the end of June were 1 per cent higher than in the same period in 2020, before the pandemic, Burberry reported. Year-on-year sales were up 90 per cent, but the vast majority of the luxury brand’s shops were closed by Covid-19 restrictions during the comparable period.
