Bunnings has quietly been building flat pack homes under its Clever Living brand that are becoming increasingly popular for first home buyers, a builder says. Kāpiti Coast builder Simon Hinds said he had built 21 flat pack homes over the past 18 months, including baches and first homes for people living on the Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Masterton. Bunnings has sold 50 flat pack houses in the past year. The flat pack homes can be designed and built off-site, then transported to the location or home delivered as a kitset and built on-site by a registered builder. Bunnings New Zealand general manager Toby Lawrance said the company had consciously taken a quiet approach with its Clever Living flat pack product because it wanted to test the market and understand where the demand was.
