'Bumper crop' of scholarship winners headed for Cambridge


Worth over $60,000 a year for up to four years, a Woolf Fisher Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and generous available to Aotearoa New Zealand students. Florence Layburn, aged 22, who has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland and is completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours at the university. Woolf Fisher Trust Chair Sir Noel Robinson says trustees were delighted with the outstanding applications they received. The Woolf Fisher is the latest in an impressive list of scholarships Daniel has been awarded, with previous ones including the Sir Edmund Hillary Senior Leadership Scholarship and the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia. Sir Woolf Fisher (1912-75) was co-founder of Fisher and Paykel and set up the trust in 1960 to recognise and reward excellence in education.
