Bullying or betterment? Popular app provides anonymous feedback, possible abuse

A new app designed to provide anonymous feedback between co-workers has become popular among teenagers, and critics say it could open the door for bullying. Particularly popular in India, Sarahah has more than 10 million downloads on Google Play Store. "There's always the risk that when you make things totally anonymous that people go a little bit beyond … In this case, it is completely anonymous and so nobody knows who you are so there's less accountability from that standpoint." Feedback from the app is not public and is only directed at the intended recipient. While the potential is there for anonymous bullying, there can be benefits from the app as well — as the developers claim in Sarahah's description.
