Greater Manchester Police cordoned off a number of roads in Leigh, Manchester on Saturday night after armed officers fatally shot the dog. There was a large police presence on Hope Street, Holden Road and The Avenue following the incident. A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called shortly after 10.50pm on Saturday, September 12 to reports of a disturbance on Hope Street in Leigh. "Two people are understood to have been injured by a dog and required hospital treatment. One resident, who lives in the area, described hearing the moment police shot the dog.
