Bulgaria coach Krassimir Balakov last night demanded that English football sort out its own problems with racism and fan behaviour badly before lecturing other countries. The Bulgarians have been angered by suggestions by England players in the last week that they will be led off the pitch on Monday at the Vasil Levski Stadium if any of their players are subjected to racist abuse – as they were in 2011. A section of seats at the stadium numbering around 5,000 has also been closed under orders from Uefa after problems in games against the Czech Republic and Kosovo in June. England striker Tammy Abraham said last week that players could walk – which prompted an angry letter from Bulgarian FA president Borislav Mihaylov to Uefa complaining about “offensive” suggestions.
