This is the fifth article of a six-part series examining how we can build back a better health system for a post-pandemic Canada. Women are also more likely to live in poverty as they age — making health care, social services and other supports difficult to access. What’s more, the overwhelming majority of people who care for our elders are women. In addition to thousands of deaths, seniors in LTC facilities and at home have been isolated from loved ones and cut off from vital connections, impacting both their physical and mental health. The pandemic made it abundantly clear that aging is a feminist issue.
