The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of enriching family members of those in the presidency at the expense of other Nigerians. Abubakar alleged that “cronies and friends of the President caught red handed in illicit funds” were “patted in the back” while individuals in the opposition party were hunted down. The former Vice President also condemned Boko Haram’s attack on the convoy of the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima saying“Children, wives, fathers, mothers, infants and several loved ones have had their lives cut short by bandits in the North Western part of the country while our brothers and sisters in the middle belt continue the unceremonious burial of family members, loved ones, children and parents in shallow graves as a result of the unchecked bloodthirst of herdsmen across the region. This is the state of Nigeria today! The PDP presidential Aspirant’s remark was contained in a statement signed and issued by his campaign Director-General, Gbenga Daniel, on Thursday.
