The handful of buffet restaurants in operation in the GTA are starting to reopen after more than a year of being shut down since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like all restaurants, buffets are operating in accordance with Ontario’s Step 3 restrictions: physical distancing must be maintained between diners, staff are masked up, and diners wear masks when not seated at the table. “Customers can still expect to see about 150 items (at) our buffets,” Chiu wrote. “We monitor the tables and the buffets, the servers manage the flow and let diners know when it’s clear to go (to the buffet),” he said. We asked a few buffet restaurants to see what they’re doing and we had a meeting with a health inspector to give us guidelines,” Sethi said.
