Buenos Aires City recorded the lowest homicide rate in 31 years in 2025, with all crimes falling by 30%, according to official data city authorities presented on Tuesday. Last year’s homicide rate of 2.5 per 100,000 is 3% lower than 2024. This is the second year running that the country boasts the lowest homicide rate in the region, Monteoliva said. Monteoliva went on to say that 15 of the country’s 24 jurisdictions — the 23 provinces and the capital, Buenos Aires City — improved their homicide rates in 2025. Cover photo by Buenos Aires City
