The amount allocated for military spending in this fiscal (Tk34,427 crore) is 7.24% more than the previous fiscal, according to the budget proposed by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, placed in parliament on Thursday. However, of the total Tk568,000 crore, 6.06% has been earmarked for the defence sector, scaling down from the allocation of the outgoing fiscal. In the last fiscal the amount was 6.1% of the total budget. Tk41 crore has been set aside as operating costs of the Armed Forces Division which was Tk38 crore in the last budget.
