KOTA KINABALU: The reactions by Sabahans towards Budget 2020 are mixed, as some feel short-changed while others feel that it seems to be inclusive in helping various sectors needing development. Sandakan MP Vivian Wong said this Budget 2020 is by far the biggest compared with previous years, with a total of RM5.2bil allocated for Sabah. The special grants stipulated under Section 112D of the Federal Constitution is also proposed to be further increased to RM106.8mil in five years’ time. Meanwhile, a businessman who only wanted to be known as Ong said that the people should know that this budget allocation for Sabah is only 16.3% of the development budget for 2020. “This increase is too small for Sabah and we hope to get more in the next budget, ” she said.
