Budget 2020: EPF to allow education withdrawals for professional certificate programmes

PETALING JAYA: In line with the country's aspirations towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will allow education withdrawals for professional certificate programmes under Budget 2020. Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said in an effort to promote adult learning, EPF will expand its scope to allow education withdrawals at the certificate level for accredited programmes. "EPF is also studying to expand this withdrawal to include members' parents and spouse," he said when tabling Budget 2020 at Parliament on Friday (Oct 11). Lim added that the government will also provide a RM20mil grant which will be matched with the RM20mil allocation by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) to encourage working adults to sit for professional certificates in courses related to IR4.0.
