Budget 2019: Ambulance services get $21 million funding boost


Growing calls to guarantee funding for ambulance services have given way to a campaign for a near fully-funded service. Peters said the Government could "not take for granted" the ambulance services, which in many cases make the early difference between life and death. The ambulance services were not necessarily calling for full funding themselves - as that would restrict their ability to claim charity status. He did not commit to the 95 per cent funding model himself, but said the Government needed to lift its funding permanently. While police and fire services were fully funded by the Government, ambulance services never have been.
