This is indeed a historic Budget. To begin with, 10 crore families — the bottom 40% of all households — will be covered under 'Ayushman Bharat' that will provide a cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year. It will not only cover those below the poverty line (approximately seven crore households) but also include the lower strata of the country's middle class. It has laid the firm foundation for India achieving a sustained, clean, rapid and inclusive economic growth. This reflects the government's commitment to stick to the path of fiscal consolidation.
