The 24-year-old has impressed in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season, scoring 19 goals in 31 appearances and breaking into the Portugal national side in the process. This has led to interest from the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool as well as United, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side appear to be close to missing out on the transfer due to Woodward's stalling. It was reported that Fernandes' agent was due to fly to London this weekend, but after United's indecision it is unclear if he will be meeting with Woodward or not. If United do pull out of a deal it will likely leave Spurs in the best position to sign Fernandes.
