Brown Rudnick helped secure a substantial victory for survivors of sexual abuse when the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) $2.46 billion plan of reorganization to move forward. In its prior representation of the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice, a group of approximately 18,000 sexual abuse survivors, Brown Rudnick negotiated a settlement during the bankruptcy proceedings in 2021 that creates the largest fund in U.S. history for survivors of sexual abuse. On Feb. 22, the Supreme Court issued its ruling denying the stay application. The Supreme Court ruling made headlines in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, CNN.com and other media outlets. Partners David Molton and Michael Winograd, counsels Shoshana Kaiser and Barbara Kelly, and associates Jane Motter and Johanna Fay lead the Brown Rudnick team in the Supreme Court proceeding.
