Two Waiheke Island brothers have been injured falling seven to 10 metres from a balcony. Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter on Monday flew the older boy to Starship Hospital in a potentially serious condition, while his younger brother travelled by ferry to hospital for checks. Helicopter emergency medical services doctor Gareth Richards said the primary school aged boys had been playing on the balcony in Onetangi when a railing gave way. Both of the boys suffered bruises and abrasions and the older boy was in a stable but potentially serious condition when flown to hospital, Richards said.
