Whererika Popata, 29, died with his brother in a tragic diving accident in North Otago on Tuesday. The mother of two brothers who drowned while diving for seafood near Oamaru says her sons were never ignorant of the sea's power. Twenty-nine-year-old Whererika Ranginui Nopera Popata, and 23-year-old Kereta Rewi Ngatote Ritete Tatana died while free diving off the coast of Kakanui, about 15 kilometres south of Oamaru, on Tuesday.
