Judge Robert Linford said the incident happened in September 2022 and that there had been an 'inexplicable' three-and-a-half-year delay in the case reaching a conclusion. ‌Defence barrister Mike Brown said something triggered the incident between the older brother, a marine engineer, and the victim. He sentenced the brothers, who live and work in Plymouth, to a 12-month community order, 140 hours of unpaid work and told them to pay £500 each in compensation to Mr Billing.
