Brothers attacked clubgoer as he celebrated daughter's 18th birthdayThey avoided jailView Image (Image: Matt Gilley/PlymouthLive)Two brothers have been sentenced after they attacked a stranger in a bar as their victim was celebrating his daughter's 18th birthday with his family. Mr Billing said he had been an outgoing person but now suffers from anxiety and depression following the attack. Judge Robert Linford said the incident happened in September 2022 and that there had been an 'inexplicable' three-and-a-half-year delay in the case reaching a conclusion. Defence barrister Mike Brown said something triggered the incident between the older brother, a marine engineer, and the victim. He sentenced the brothers, who live and work in Plymouth, to a 12-month community order, 140 hours of unpaid work and told them to pay £500 each in compensation to Mr Billing.
