Broke former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo is pleading with the courts to allow him to settle a Sh 1.7 million election petition cost in Sh 50, 000 instalments. Midiwo is paying a similar amount to IEBC and the returning officer for Gem constituency after he lost the case last year. He applied for release of the cash he had deposited as security while filing the case against Odhiambo and the electoral agency. The former MP was required to complete the payment in 30 days from February 13, 2019, when Odhiambo filed his bill of costs. Midiwo moved to a court in Kisumu on March 14 seeking orders allowing him to pay the remaining Sh 1, 216, 820 in small amounts.
