Broadcasting levy will be waived to help local radio stations survive the Covid-19 pandemic

Minister for Communications Richard Bruton said that a broadcasting levy will be waived in order to help local radio stations keep their head above the water during the Covid-19 outbreak. Minister Bruton said he has also asked the BAI to assess the financial situation of local radio as a result of the pandemic. "I recognise the importance of local radio stations to their communities as a trusted source of information on the Covid -19 Pandemic," he said. This action will save local radio stations almost €1m. Local radio stations are also entitled to the range of forbearance measures announced by Revenue and the banks.
