(Photo supplied/Wassayos Ngamkham)A British man and five Thai women have been arrested for allegedly luring more than 400 Thai and foreign victims — many of them retirees in Pattaya — into an investment scam with promises of exorbitant stock trading returns. The Thai women, aged between 37 and 59, were identified only as Pornphreuruehat, Thongbai, Mananchaya, Khamporn and Thidarat. The transnational investment fraud syndicate operated under the name “King Power Gold”, said Pol Maj Gen Thatphum Jaruprat, commander of the ECD. The King Power name is well known in Thailand, where it is associated with the country’s largest duty-free business. Police question a British man, one of six suspects accused of involvement in a transnational investment scam.
