Human rights lawyers said they had been collecting evidence on the protests in Hong KongBritons in senior policing roles in Hong Kong are facing a private prosecution in the UK over allegations of torture against pro-democracy protesters. Activists and lawyers supporting the protests allege that the high-profile British officers have “engaged in and are responsible for” human rights abuses in the streets. In a statement issued this morning, lawyers from Edmonds Marshall McMahon said: “Police violence against pro-democracy demonstrators in Hong Kong has reached grotesque proportions.”They alleged that defenceless protesters are being beaten at almost every protest and that the methods used “contravene international policing norms and violate human rights law”. Among the techniques they highlighted was kneeling on the necks of protesters, which since the death of George Floyd in the US has been heavily criticised around
