A British man who was building an ecological holiday business on the Greek island of Crete has been found dead, hanging from an olive tree. The man, identified as Paul Matthew Sherwood, 40, was missing for several days before British consular officials on the island contacted local authorities to try and trace his whereabouts. “His friends, also British nationals, were trying to reach him for days,” said a police spokesman. “They called the embassy as their last resort.”Mr Sherwood’s body was found hanging in an olive grove about eight miles east of the city of Chania, an area popular with British expatriates on the island.
