Wilshere spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and is back at Arsenal with little chance of breaking back into the first team. He was in the team for Arsenal’s last match, a humiliating 4-0 loss at Liverpool, but was substituted at halftime. Ramsey is the only player from that photo taken in December 2012 who appears to have a long-term future at Arsenal. The British “core,” as Wenger envisaged, just didn’t really work out.
