Retail employs 3 million people across the U.K., making the industry the country’s largest private sector employer. Carolyn Fairbairn the U.K.’s leading group, The Confederation of British Industry, told BBC radio this morning, “the fact that we have a Prime Minister with a very strong mandate to govern is welcome. The real work starts now.”Top of the list for Johnson, Fairbairn adds, is the rebuilding of business confidence which has capitulated over the recent years. The movement of goods between their U.K. and European operations are also likely to face headwinds.
