Fellow Brexit supporter Priti Patel resigned from the position on Wednesday over undisclosed meetings with Israeli officials that breached diplomatic protocol. Until Thursday’s appointment, Mordaunt held a junior ministerial post with responsibilies for disabled people, health and work within the Department of Work and Pensions.
