British PM May, Japan's Abe to meet amid N Korea crisis

Visiting British Prime Minister Theresa May is to hold talks with her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on Thursday amid growing tensions over North Korea's missile and nuclear threats. Their talks in the Japanese capital come two days after Pyongyang fired a missile that travelled over Japan's northern island of Hokkaido and plunged into the Pacific Ocean. May's first trip to Japan as premier comes amid fears among Japanese companies operating in Britain that they will lose money when it exits the European Union. May, who arrived in Osaka on Wednesday, met Abe in the ancient capital of Kyoto and affirmed over dinner that North Korea's provocative acts present "an unprecedented grave and serious threat and absolutely cannot be tolerated," according to Japan's Foreign Ministry. May is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Emperor Akihito before wrapping up her visit on Friday.
