The Afterburner ride at Coney Beach in Porthcawl is one of six that have been shut indefinitely after an accident in the USSix theme park rides have been closed in the UK after a teenager died when a similar ride in the US crashed and catapulted him into the air. The 18-year-old man was killed and three others were seriously injured on the KMG Afterburner at the Ohio State Fair last Wednesday. A sixth had already been shut immediately after the Ohio crash by Lightwater Valley in North Yorkshire. Thorpe Park also closed a similar but not identical KMG ride but has since reopened it.
