Britain's Ethnic Minorities Worry About Their Careers After Brexit

Ethnic minorities in the U.K. are more concerned about the negative impact of Brexit on their careers than their white counterparts. In fact, 52% of ethnic minorities surveyed feel that Brexit will negatively impact their career progression, compared to only 16% of their white counterparts. Some of the worries among ethnic minorities about their career progression stem from perceived enhanced discrimination from the majority. In the U.K., only 84 of the 1,048 directors in the FTSE100, originate from an ethnic minority – that is 8% of FTSE100 directors, compared to the wider population, of which 14% are ethnic minorities. But the Equality Group’s research shows that advances made by businesses on race equality may be impeded, or even retreated, by Brexit.
