PMK and DMK accused each other of bribing voters in the last assembly elections. PMK leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Ambumani Ramadoss said, "DMK and AIADMK have bribed the voters during the elections. "Both DMK and AIADMK were held responsible for bribing voters in those constituencies in Tamil Nadu," the former Union health minister said. In Tamil Nadu, Rs 500-1,000 per voter is spent in elections," said Thirunavukkarsar adding, "Had we been paying the voters, we could also have won the polls in Tamil Nadu." The Congress has been out of power in Tamil Nadu for nearly four decades.
