Lovepreet Brar admitted his part in the scam that involved driver licence applicants handing over cash for licences. His fellow corrupt testing officer, Daryl Govender, was sentenced to five months community detention and 200 hours community work. Immigration New Zealand has told Stuff that Brar was issued with a deportation notice back in April. The typical cost for a full driver's licence was about $300 but a heavy truck licence could cost as much as $2500. ​Evidence at trial showed the scam was running through-out 2014 but there was also evidence Feroz was taking bribes as far back as 2012.
