Brian Cox is the cannabis of science broadcasting. You come across him late at night on TV, looking like he has dressed for a moon mission in a Puffa jacket borrowed from Noel Gallagher, his eyes dark as black holes. Then he’ll stare deep into the camera, whispering: “Life is the means by which the universe understands itself.” At this point your brain explodes into a thousand tiny stars and Cox’s perma smile glows brighter.
