Breather for empanelled drivers in KSRTC

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will not terminate the services of 1,565 empanelled drivers on Tuesday, April 30, as ordered by the High Court in view of the special leave petition (SLP) filed against the verdict in the Supreme Court. ‘Contempt of court’The KSRTC decided to file an affidavit in the High Court on Tuesday seeking more time in view of the SL petition filed by it in the Supreme Court, sources in the KSRTC said. With this, the 1,565 empanelled drivers of the State transport undertaking have got a breather. The KSRTC management has approached the Supreme Court as the management, government and trade unions are of the view that retrenching empanelled drivers will badly hit the services, as there is no live list of the Kerala Public Service Commission for the recruitment of drivers. Rankholders’ appealAn association of rank holders which had approached the High Court demanding removal of the empanelled drivers on the rolls has also decided to approach the Supreme Court against the move of the transport undertaking.
