Breakers say there's no hard feelings as pair of familiar faces return with Cairns Taipans MARC HINTONGETTY IMAGES Former Breaker DJ Newbill has made a strong start to his career with the Cairns Taipans. The Breakers chose not to re-sign Tall Blacks big Rob Loe or import swingman DJ Newbill for the current Australian NBL season, despite both playing key roles in the club's run to the semifinals in 2017-18. Both have ended up with the Cairns Taipans who meet the Breakers for the first time this season at their downtown Auckland venue. Braswell said both Newbill and Loe had been "in talks" to re-sign at the Breakers, but, this being professional basketball, other options worked out for both parties. With some old friends in town, the Breakers would love another explosion this week.
