With 97 per cent of the votes tallied, da Silva had 47.9 per cent support and Bolsonaro 43.6 per cent. The race pits incumbent Jair Bolsonaro against his political nemesis, former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, known as Lula. There are nine other candidates, but their support pales in comparison to that for Bolsonaro and Lula. With 91.6 per cent of votes counted, da Silva had 47.3 per cent, ahead of Bolsonaro with 44.2 per cent, according to the electoral authority. Leda Wasem, 68, had no doubt that Bolsonaro will not just be re-elected but will win outright in the first round.
