Brazil’s ex-president Lula indicted 'without evidence' for corruption

The official merely said he was "convinced" that Lula was the "mastermind" of the corruption scandal. At his press conference, Dallagnol formally denounced Lula, his wife Marisa Leticia and four other individuals for being part of the corruption scheme that caused a loss of almost 12 billion reais (US $ 4 billion) to Brazil 's biggest oil company. At his press conference, the prosecutor showed the media dozens of slides, bringing diagrams pointing Lula as the centre of a system. Presenting his tacky diagrams, with little evidence of corruption, Dallagnol dubbed Lula's regime as "the government governed by bribery. Soon after the press conference, rumours of the former president facing arrest sometime soon began to circulate on social media. But Lula's lawyers called the prosecutor's announcement a "political move" as he did not "show any evidence of the crimes attributed to Lula and his family". Lula was detained y the federal police for questioning early this year, but was released as people began to gather on streets to protest.
