Hamels, who split 2019 between the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs, got a one-year, $18 million contract. The Braves believe pitching half his games in Sun Trust Park will help Hamels more than working in his most recent home parks. A control artist who missed a month with an oblique strain last year, Hamels averages about a strikeout per inning. For Atlanta, Moustakas was Plan B in the event another team outbid them for Donaldson.
