Billionaire Branson rockets into space, July 12Let me congratulate the Star for showing wisdom in publishing this story back on page 10, because, in today’s world, where so many are suffering and simply trying to get through each day, making headlines about a rich man’s successful flight into space is not a high priority, nor would it be very sensitive. But the bigger question should be: how has, or will, the huge sum spent building this rocket ship benefit human kind? Just a tiny number of people will be able to afford a ticket on Branson’s newest toy. He kept talking about how wonderful this is for the next generation; maybe someone should remind Branson that, if we don’t work overtime to fix the planet we walk on or the air we breathe, there may not be too many more next generations.
