On a boiling hot Thursday evening in New York City, a sizable crowd gathered outside Bergdorf Goodman. Then again, it was the official first day of New York Fashion Week (fashionably late is par for course) and the color is the prescribed uniform of the industry. Shoes by Christian Louboutin and Gianvitto Rossi, jewelry by Lynn Ban and dresses by Gucci, Balmain and Brandon Maxwell filled up the highly curated space. “This is what we all need,” said designer Brandon Maxwell, who, along with Fargo, was the host of the party. “I think fashion needs surprises, it needs more emotion,” added Fargo.
