Brahmins Group diversify into luxury pen segment


Brahmins group, a Rs 60 crore Kerala-based food products company, has diversified into a totally unrelated segment of manufacture of hand crafted luxury pens Brahmins has set up a new company Hexagon Insights in association with renowned pen turner Ron Caddy of Acron Crafts in the UK for making hand crafted luxury pens aimed at capturing a share of Rs 1200 crore branded luxury pen market in the country.An avid collector of luxury pens, Sreenath Vishnu, executive director of Brahmins group , decided to pursue his passion seriously after meeting Caddy and formed the company to make Rytol Pens. "At present, we produce three pens a day from 100% imported materials but create 40% value addition from the unique craftsmanship here." The units at Jaipur and Mumbai produce jewellery pens while that at Hyderabad focuses on designing. The Kochi unit shapes barrels and tops.Each pen is unique in its barrel and top designs and cannot be replicated, according to Vishnu. "We are looking at launching pen series in the name of Indian freedom fighters," Vishnu said.
