Boyle LEA recount complete as one of the two Fine Gael candidates eliminated from race

Following the completion of a full recount of the Boyle Local Electoral Area, Dympna Daly-Finn, one of the Fine Gael candidates left in the race, has been eliminated. Following the distribution of Leah Cull’s surplus of 10 votes in the 9th count, both she and her party colleague, outgoing councillor Liam Callaghan have lost two votes following the recount due to them not being stamped. The day long recount left Callaghan on 993 and Daly Flynn on 990, and she has now been eliminated. Her votes will now be distributed among the remaining candidates of Fianna Fail newcomer Sean Moylan (FF) who is on 1,581 votes, outgoing Independent Councillor Tom Crosby (1,256), Independent Ireland’s Paul Forde (1,053) and Liam Callaghan (993). Three of the six seats have already been filled by outgoing Independent councillor Valerie Beirne, Sinn Fein’s Leah Cull and Independent candidate Micheal Frain.
