A two-year-old boy, pulled from the water near Petrie Island without vital signs, was pronounced dead Tuesday night, Ottawa police say. Emergency services were called to the beach around 5:30 p.m. after a young child was reported missing. A witness told Radio-Canada that the toddler was pulled out of the water by firefighters and then received CPR. "Paramedics rushed the child to hospital where, despite medical interventions, he was pronounced deceased," a police release said Tuesday. "We offer our condolences to the family of the young boy," the police said.
